Small internal platforms often fail in ordinary ways. A settings change gets made without being recorded. A form route changes without updating the support team. A page is edited because it looked harmless, and a downstream workflow stops matching reality.
For small teams, change control does not need to be formal to be useful. It does need to be visible. A short note that explains what changed, when it changed, and who should know about it is usually enough to prevent the next round of confusion.
The goal is not process for its own sake. It is reducing the number of small unknowns that accumulate around operational systems until they become support debt.
